Autumn Bicycling
[*Update*: No long riding for me today (Wed., 10/17th, 2007); canceled; maybe next year sometime.]
Rode my bicycle a little late this afternoon around these parts, first time since a week ago Sunday, back when I rode to Marshfield and back for the second time (here; via Montpelier Matters; 10/8/2007).
Am not sure if the weather will prove to be good enough for me to do so tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/17th) or not (especially due to the weather not looking too good for the afternoon right now), however I am thinking of possibly doing a long ride out Route 2 again to Marshfield and, possibly farther. If I am able to to do so, maybe even to St. Johnsbury (St. J) and back, yet am not exactly sure though. If I do manage to ride to St. J and back as I would like to if I am up to it, it would be my longest ride to date on this bicycle. Not to worry though, I am not at all concerned or focused about how far or fast I ride of course, just in experiencing and enjoying the journey and, as such, as always will only ride as long and as far as it is good and enjoyable to do so, no more, no less.
Below is an embedded Google Map of what my route would be:

One Wheel Experience
Read about my recent one wheel experience [via Montpelier Matters]:
Montpelier Unicyclists (Vermont) put on a unicycle demonstration as well as a free clinic for those interested in trying out a unicycle during the annual meeting event of the Montpelier Downtown Community Association (MDCA), which was held on Tuesday (June 12, 2007) out front of City Hall.

It is that Time of Year!
Since the weather was so nice and warm yesterday, after finishing up my late afternoon online session at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, I decided to take a walk across town and took a shortcut to where I was headed.
Laying on the sidewalk of a small side-street were some items near a sign with the word FREE in huge letters. Just happening to slow down enough to glance at some of the things and noticed that there was a box for one of those relatively low-priced chess sets available for the taking. Although I nearly did not bother to stop to check it out since I assumed it may not have all the chess pieces, I finally decided to do so and found out that it had all the pieces and the board was in fine condition as well, so I grabbed it and continued on.
It is good to have a good basic set to play with, especially for when my son and daughter are able to visit me again sometime and if we have time to play chess.
It is definitely Springtime, finally! It looks like we are in for an excellent weekend, weather-wise, too.

My Postcard for Pawlick
*Updated*
Back in January I blogged a post concerning how pawlick had contacted me requesting that I send them a postcard of and from the Montpelier area.
Checking today I noticed that he had scanned and posted the postcard I sent his way early last month when he recently updated his site. Check it out, here [also posted below]!

St. Patrick’s Day Nor’Easter
If certain weather forecasters have it correct, when it is all over sometime tomorrow (Saturday, March 17, 2007), it looks like this area may be on the receiving end of 18 to 24 inches of snow from another Nor’easter to hit the region.
The previous storm dumped 30 inches of snow around here and, because it hit us on February 14th, it was referred to as the Valentines Day Blizzard [more (includes a borrowed photo), here].
Although this one is supposed to begin hitting the Montpelier area this evening, I suppose it will become known as the St. Patrick’s Day Blizzard.
Hmmm, the way it is going thus far this Winter season — at least this latter phase of it anyway, maybe this will mean we could get hit with yet snow storm on Easter as well (who knows?!). If so however, then that would truly be a Nor’easter for sure, eh?!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
New & Improved Montpelier Matters blog
Late last week and, also portions of today, I spent some time working on the Montpelier Matters blog, finally upgrading it to the new Blogger template and trying to once again bring it back to life if at all possible (have also been inviting additional [read: new as well as former] team members to [re]join the blog).
Did this to the links page as well of course.
