Humor Break: Joke

*Updated*

This is probably either an old joke or something along the lines of one some have already heard somewhere before, but since I have not blogged much up on this blog of mine for quite some time, here goes:

What did the toothless vampire tell his intended victims just before he began to suck their blood?

I hope you will forgive me for using a straw.

To which the victims would often retort, just prior to the vampire lunging in to drink:

If you really care to know, it sucks either way.

Maybe this type of joke would be a good one to share with psychiatrists as well as other mental health professionals when either speaking or dealing with them concerning forced drugging and other forced treatment matters.

Who knows, maybe the use of humor might help and certainly cannot hurt, unless they attempt to medicalize, diagnose and treat that too, just like everything else as well of course.

*Note*: added last two paragraphs in order to include a comment I sent to people when sending out the joke to others, particularly those working within the mental health advocacy field, etc.; made a minor edit within first line of joke: i.e., changing such to suck; last updated on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 6:36 PM (ET).

Hillary’s Inner Tracy Flick

[cross-posted from Green Mountain Daily, here]

[...]

I loved Election when it came out. It’s portrayal of a high-school election contest between an obsessive-compulsive, tense girl and a laid back jock was pitch perfect. When the folks at Slate V realized there were some parallels with the Democratic candidates, this video was born.

[...]

Came across the above via techPresident, posted by Joshua Levy, here; 1/18/2008; embedded vid via BrightCove, here.

Several other vids were posted within the same post, so make sure to follow the above link, yet for my part I thought this particular vid was both the best as well as funniest among those and, thus, received my full attention when I saw it.

*Humor Break*: Hillbilly birth

Someone just sent the below forwarded item my way and I could not resist blogging it up:

Deep in the back woods, of Orleans County, Vermont, a South Glover woman went into labor in the middle of the night, and the doctor was called out to assist in the delivery. Since there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern and said, “Here. You hold this high so I can see what I am doing!.”

Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world. “Whoa there,” said the doctor, “don’t be in such a rush to put that lantern down I think there’s another one coming.”

Sure enough, within minutes he had delivered a baby girl. “Hold that lantern up, don’t set it down there’s another one!” Said the doctor.

Within a few minutes he had delivered a third baby. “No, don’t be in a hurry to put down that lantern, it seems there’s yet another one coming!” cried the doctor

The redneck scratched his head in bewilderment, and asked the doctor, …..

“You reckon it might be the light that’s attractin’ ‘em?”

Free & Quick Online Norwegian Language Lessons

Learn Some Norwegian in only 2 Seconds!

Uff da & Fee da — defined:

Uff da is when you step over it.
Fee da is when you step in it.

That was easy, no?! And, it only took two seconds, right?! See, I told you so.

Basically,

Uff da (can also be spelled uff-da, uffda, uff-dah, oofda, ufda, oofta or ufta) is an exclamation of Norwegian origin that is relatively common in the Upper Midwestern states of the United States. It roughly means “drats,” “oops!” or “ouch!”, …

In addition, fyi:

All about the word “uff da!”, here.

From Bud Halverson

Uff Da is when you step over it. Fee DA is when you step in it.

For those who did not already know, I am of 50% Norwegian descent and the other half is 100% pure Yankee. When I have mentioned that to some on previous ocassions, there have been those who then asked me what a Yankee was and, I simply state:

A Yankee is someone whose family has been over here so long, they have completely forgotten where they’re from.

Subsidized Housing in the Town of Morgan, Vermont

Found this particular photo in the Picture Gallery (8 next clicks from first photo) available on the Website for the Town of Morgan, Vermont with a caption that reads [emphasis mine]:

Subsidized Housing in Morgan

For those who are not familiar with such, those are ice fishing shanties or houses on the frozen lake in the dead of Winter.

Remember When: Happy Halloween, Vermont Election Style 2004

Associated Press (AP) Photo caption:

via Mike Hicks, here, who — within his blog post on the subject — opined:

Political debates should always be held on Halloween

[by the way, for the sake of full disclosure, having met him sometime after the 2004 election cycle through a mutual friend -- Patricia Henjy (Pat Political), deceased December 13, 2005 -- whom wanted me to help him with some Blogging 101 coaching so he could get started with blogging a blog of his own, I happen to know Peter Stevenson (Illuminati Slayer) and consider him a friend. In fact, he has recently informed me that once he is able to do so, he hopes to get his blog going once again as it has been somewhat dormant for a little while now. -- mwb]
